Heads includes a catalog of sculptures, cyanotypes of varying size, and other related materials. This work explores otherness and exploitation as a queer woman by creating new beings to both be exploited and cherished. The work utilizes and references existent techniques and imagery from previous generations such as the language of early western museums and collections, as well as vintage 40s and 50s stylings. The beings, these heads, exist in an alternate reality that is purposefully misunderstood. They comment on our worlds current and historical systems of oppression and alienation specifically of the LGBTQ+ community.
