Em Koenig was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 2001 and currently lives and works in Savannah, GA. She received a BFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2023. Her art encompasses a wide range of mediums and disciplines, from painting to performance. These works often explore themes of queerness, the analog, the everyday, and our societal norms. Creating new worlds, spiritual obsessions, and sometimes humorous viewpoints that offset hate along with alienation in our hostile and digital reality. 

    She has been working on a recent body of work entitled Heads, that includes a catalog of sculptures, cyanotypes of varying size, and other related materials. In this work, she explores otherness and exploitation as a queer woman by creating her own beings to both be exploited and cherished. In process, commenting on current and historical oppression faced by the queer community.
